Public Meet & Greet Event with Public Safety Director Finalist Candidates to be Held on Thursday, November 18 at the Point Events Center

With the retirement of Bob Sage in October, the City of Augusta has been searching for a new Director of Public Safety to serve the Augusta community. We have narrowed our search down to two finalists: Robert “Mark” Filler and Todd Ackerman. You can read a biography for each candidate here.

On Thursday, November 18, the City of Augusta will host a Public Meet & Greet Event at the Point Events Center (2101 Dearborn Street).  This event will give members of the community the opportunity to get to know the candidates, ask them questions, and provide feedback directly to the City.  Each candidate will spend about an hour meeting with members of the public while the other candidate talks to City Council. Then, both candidates will participate in a public forum facilitated by the City Manager during which attendees can learn about their qualifications and vision for public safety in Augusta.

The official public meeting will begin at 5:00 PM, but the meet & greet activities will start at 5:30 PM.

Below is an approximate schedule for the evening’s events:
5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Public Meeting Officially Starts
5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Council Meet & Greet Candidate #1 - Public Meet & Greet Candidate #2
6:30 p.m. – 6:40 p.m. Break
6:40 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. Council Meet & Greet Candidate #2 - Public Meet & Greet Candidate #1
