Celebrate Public Service Recognition Week with the City of Augusta!

**Note: This article has been updated to include links to the articles as they are published**

Since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week has been celebrated the first week of May to honor the people who serve our country as federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees.  The public service workforce includes teachers, healthcare workers, groundskeepers, computer technicians, engineers, safety inspectors, astronauts, social workers, and many other types of work. The services they provide to the people of this country are numerous, varied, and invaluable.

From May 3 to May 7, the City will be celebrating the work of our own public servants on social media. Each day , we will highlight a different department with a post to our Facebook page and a news article on our website. The posts will describe the work our employees do and include pictures and quotes.

Monday, May 3 - Public Utilities
Tuesday, May 4 - Public Safety
Wednesday, May 5 - Community Development
Thursday, May 6 - Administration
Friday, May 7 - Our Elected and Appointed Officials (City Council, Planning Commission etc.)

The City Council will also recognize Public Service Recognition Week at their meeting on Monday May 3  at 7:00 PM with an official proclamation.

Please join us in celebrating the hard work of our employees, as well as other public servants in the area such as those who work for USD 402, Butler County, and the State of Kansas.
