Dalton Palmer Memorial Playground Closed for Construction

Exciting news Augusta! While you're going to have to delay your play for a few short weeks, it will all be worth it. The City of Augusta was recently awarded a KDHE Waste Tire grant to install ADA-accessible soft rubber surfacing at the downtown playground to replace the existing wood fiber mulch. This is just the next step towards progress as we bring our vision to life for the Frisco Depot area in downtown Augusta.

Work will begin on August 5th with removal of the existing wood fiber followed by installation of base materials and rubber soft surfacing. Once complete, city crews will finish installing brick patios between the new parklet seating areas and the playground.

Construction is expected to take 4-8 weeks dependent on weather. Equipment is not safe to play on during this construction period. In the meantime, if you are still needing your outdoor fix, don't forget about our other fabulous facilities at Garvin Park, Augusta Shryock Park Slash Pad, and Santa Fe Lake.
