Public Hearing to Be Held on September 7, 2021 for Submission of Application to LWCF Grant Program

City of Augusta, KS
Official Notice of Public Hearing

On September 7, 2021, the City of Augusta will hold a public hearing for purposes of taking public comment on the submission of an application to the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant Program seeking a 50% match in funding for the Augusta Community Skatepark Project.

The public hearing will be held during the City Council meeting on Tuesday September 7, 2021 at 7 PM in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 113 E 6th Avenue. This notice has been posted on the City’s website, main Facebook page, and Skatepark Project Facebook page.

Bill Reed Park has been selected as the location for the skatepark project. In addition, the Park Advisory Board has recommended approval of a project footprint in the northeast corner of the park (near the outfield of Moyle Field) and the selection of preliminary design option #2 with slight modifications. These recommendations will be reviewed by the City Council immediately prior to the public hearing.

City staff is currently in the process of finalizing the application materials.  If authorized by City Council, staff will send the completed application to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism (KDWPT) by the deadline of September 15, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by the Statewide Local Recreation Advisory Board.

You may appear at this time either in person or by agent, if you so desire, and be heard on the matter. You may also contact one or both of your Councilmembers to provide your feedback ahead of time if you will not be able to attend. After hearing the views and wishes of all persons interested in this application, the City Council will make a decision on whether or not to authorize staff to submit an application to the LWCF Program and approve a resolution of support for the application.

If you have any questions about the public hearing, please contact the City Manager’s Office at 316-775-4510.
