Declare to Run for Local Office by June 1, 2021

In Fall 2021, there will be four seats on the Augusta City Council up for election, one in each of the four voting wards. Voting will occur on November 2, 2021 alongside federal and state elections. Augusta residents can run to serve in either of the two City Council seats that represent the ward they live in, which you can check using this map.  City Councilmembers serve four year terms; those elected this fall will begin their terms on January 1, 2022.

To run for City Council, Augusta residents will need to declare their candidacy with Butler County no later than 12:00 PM on June 1, 2021.  Candidates need to file the paperwork linked below in person to the County Clerk's Office at 205 W Central Ave in El Dorado, KS.  Candidates should not sign the candidate packet until they present it at the County Clerk's office, as declaring for candidacy requires witnesses and notarization of signatures.
