National Prescription Take Back Day April 28

Augusta, Kansas, April 2018 – The Augusta Department of Public Safety will be accepting expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Department of Public Safety, 2100 N. Ohio Street.

In collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Augusta law enforcement officers will be engaged in an effort focused on removing and destroying potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. National Prescription Drug Take Back day provides a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

No needles may be accepted. Intra-venous (IV) solutions, injectable, and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. Inhalers and other compressed air cylinders will not be accepted.
