Compost, Metal & E-Waste Drop-Off

The City operates a drop-off site at 5th & Grove year round for residents of Augusta to dispose of tree limbs and yard waste (i.e. grass clippings, leaves, etc.). Tree limbs will either be mulched or burned at the City’s permitted burn site. Yard waste will be processed and converted to compost. When available, compost and mulch are available free of charge to Augusta residents.

Use the north gate off 5th Street to enter the Compost yard. The Metal Recycling dumpster has been relocated to right outside the north Compost gate, and the E-Waste dumpster has been moved just inside a drive just east of Grove off 5th Street.

City Code specifies that use of the site shall be limited to residential customers residing within the corporate limits of the City of Augusta and landscaping/grounds maintenance businesses with an Augusta address. Tree service businesses are prohibited from using the compost/limb site.  Use by landscaping/grounds maintenance businesses requires a permit, which are available for a designated fee at the City Utility Office at 111 E. 6th Avenue.
