Amendments and Diversions

Amendments

A minor traffic citation may be eligible for an amendment.
An amendment will change your charge to a non-moving violation that is not reportable to the State of Kansas. If you do not have a speeding violation or any other serious traffic violations on your record in the past 12 months, or more than two speeding violations or any other serious traffic violations in the past 24 months, you may be eligible for an amendment.  The City Prosecutor will make the final determination for amendment base on all relevant information. Submitting the application and fee does not guarantee the amendment will be approved.

An application for amendment, which lists all eligibility and application requirements, is located in  Documents and Forms.

Diversion

A first-time misdemeanor offense charge may be eligible for a diversion.
A diversion is an agreement between you and the City that gives you the opportunity to avoid a conviction in exchange for compliance with certain requirements. If you successfully complete the diversion program, the charge(s) against you will be dismissed with prejudice.  The City Prosecutor has the sole discretion whether to grant or deny diversion to any person and may deny an application even if it is a first offense.
