Life Insurance is not in short supply when working for the City.
- All regular employees are provided Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance through Reliance Standard. The City provides $15,000 of life insurance at no cost to the eligible employee.
- Employees and their eligible dependents may be able to purchase, at their expense, additional Voluntary Life Insurance Coverage thru Reliance Standard.
- City employees participating in the KPERS program have an additional life insurance coverage benefit of 150% of their annual salary.
- Employees may be able to purchase, at their expense, additional Optional Life Insurance coverage through KPERS.
Worker's Compensation Insurance
Employees injured on the job are covered by the Kansas Workers’ Compensation Act. Earned sick leave and vacation time can be used to supplement worker’s compensation payments not to exceed the employee’s normal salary. This City pays 100% of the worker’s compensation insurance premium.
Long Term Disability Coverage
Employees participating in the KPERs program are provided Long Term Disability coverage. This plan is administered by KPERs.
Employees interested in obtaining pet insurance to assist in the financial burdens of pet care are eligible to purchase, at their expense, voluntary Pet Insurance thru Nationwide.
AFLAC Voluntary Plans
Employees may purchase, at their expense, supplemental benefits provided through AFLAC payable to the employee, in the event an event covered by the plan elected occurs. Rates vary by coverage. Plan options include:
