The Finance Division is responsible for assuring that all purchasing of goods, capital and services is done in conformity with the City of Augusta’s policies and procedures. To ensure that taxpayer dollars are invested wisely, Augusta’s policy is to procure goods, capital and services at the lowest possible cost while maintaining an open, fair and competitive bidding environment.
The City of Augusta operates a decentralized purchasing function where each department makes purchases in accordance with general procedures. The Finance Department serves as the purchasing gateway to provide assistance and technical expertise in purchasing procedures for overall accounting, budgeting and internal control.
